They Make me Smile

I got home yesterday and took the dogs outside like always.  It was such a pretty day I decided to let them play outside for a while (we don't have a fenced in back yard so they don't get to just stay outside unless we are outside doing things.  I had some ironing to do so I left the laundry room door open (I know, Mom.  I know) and so I could keep and eye on them.

At one point I looked out and saw them playing and had to go grab my camera to get some pics.  They do this all the time, but it still is so funny to me to watch them.

What I'm Pinning Wednesday

I am so sad that the holiday season is technically over. I de-Christmased our house on Monday and it looks so bare!  Lucky for us we have 2 birthdays plus Valentines Day to look forward to in the next couple months so it won't be too long before I am back in planning mode!  At least I have some wonderful Pinspiration to keep me going this week!

google

Because it's only 29 degrees outside I needed  some beachy pinspiration.

Dear Mother Nature.....

Dear Mother Nature,
I am not sure why but for whatever reason you have made it a pretty mild winter so far.  I have been totally digging the warm weather we have had the past few weeks.  Next to a White Christmas, a warm one is fine by me.  (What good is cold without snow?)

I am not sure if you just forgot it was winter or what but it seems as if you just realized it was supposed to be cold right now and decided to throw the cold on Alabama all at once.  It was 71 degrees on Sunday and this morning when I left the house the windchill was 16 degrees. That is freakin cold!  It's not that I don't like the cold--I do enjoy it--I just don't like the drastic drop in temperatures. So if you could make the next temperature change a gradual one I would really appreciate it!  K Thanks!

P.S.  If you really wanted to make the cold worth it to me, you could make it snow!  That always makes me love cold weather!

See?!?  Snow in my face and I am still smiling!

Happy New Year!

Ready or not, here it is!  2012 that is.  I cannot wait for all of the exciting things that will be happening this year!

Our observance of the new year was pretty uneventful.  We watched the ball fall in NYC (an hour ahead for us) and after that Eric decided he'd had enough reveling, and went to bed.  I stayed up to watch the tv coverage of the Moon Pie dropping in Mobile, and fell asleep right after.

right before he fell asleep

We did manage to include a glass of the bubbly in our celebration, of course!  And there is some leftover for mimosas....score!

yes our Christmas Tree was still up, but it is coming down today

I got up and went to church on New Years Day.  What a nice way to kick off the new year!  When I got home we went to Eric's grandma's house for some black eyed peas and collard greens (among other things). I am not a fan of either, but I ate some of each for luck and prosperity in the new year.  Being a southern transplant, the collards are a new New Years tradition for me.  My family always eats corned beef and cabbage for New Years.  I bought a slab of corned beef to cook for dinner, but I ended up doing a little shopping Sunday afternoon and did not get home in time to cook it.  Lucky for me the deer are in rut right now so Eric is off trying to get a new decoration for the wall, so he was not waiting for me to cook.  I did stop to pick up a packet of corned beef lunch meat and made myself a reuben sandwich for dinner to get my corned beef and cabbage.

YUM!
So here's to a new year!  I hope it is the best yet!
