What I'm Pinning Wednesday

This was the scene at our house last night.  We are some wild and crazy kids, right? While the 3 of them snoozed I caught up on some crafting and some DVR recordings.....SMASH is only getting better!  And Pandora STILL does not have a SMASH Radio Station.  I am still waiting patiently.
Aren't they cute?

I am linking up this week with all of the pretties [and funnies] that caught my eye on Pinterest this week.  I am love love loving all of the springy outfits I have seen this week.  Have I mentioned I am ready for spring? Cuz I am.

So we may not have the mountains, but I am so ready to spend some time down at the river!

Happy Leap Year Day Wednesday!  The weekend's halfway here!

Who Takes Someone Else's Lunch?

Seriously.  Who does that?  I wish I knew because I would go ask them to bring mine back!  I work in an office and we have a communal break room for the entire floor.  Everyday I put my tupperware with turkey and cheese in it in the fridge. And yesterday somebody helped themselves to it!  It's not like it was even an entire sandwich!  I have the bread and the packet of mayo to put on it at my desk!!!!!  I can't believe someone would just take someone else's lunch like that!  To be honest I am more ticked off about someone taking my tupperware than the food in it.  Could you at least return it?!?  From now on all of my lunch dishes will have my name written ALL OVER THEM.

So to whoever took my lunch:
No I did not have the guts to put this up anywhere.

However, I did post a sign that was a little nicer:

Moral of this story.....Don't take what's NOT yours!

Spring is in the air!

It's beginning to feel like spring outside, so I decided that I should help speed things along by putting up some spring decorations up around the house.

I started with my wreath for the front door.  It is the same idea as my fall wreath that I did earlier this year, but with some pretty springy flowers. The blue and white pop against our dark wood door.

My next wreath took a little while to finish. For some reason it did not take me nearly as long to wrap my fall/winter yarn wreath as it took to do this one.  Luckily it is easy, mindless work so I was able to knock it out while we were watching Moneyball Saturday night. I love how it turned out!

I finally finished my cupcake wrapper flower bursts (for now--I am thinking the purple one is too tall now).

I also changed out my seasonal shadow box to put my spring page up.

I have a few more ideas to spruce up the house a little more, but those are entirely dependent upon mt free time in the coming weeks...we'll see!

What I did this Weekend

After what I am convinced was the longest 4 day week in the history in the world, we treated ourselves to a very nice weekend. It started with a fun Friday night out with friends.  We met up with some of the guys Eric played football with and their wives Friday night at an oyster bar/restaurant in Montgomery for dinner. I absolutely love this group of friends.  The wives have become just as good of friends as the guys are so we have just as much fun as they do when we all get together.

Saturday morning Eric headed up to the lake Saturday morning to fish with his propane heater we got @ Academy the night before because it was 30 degrees outside.  While he fished I cleaned.....for 5 hours. As much as I hated to have to clean, I was so glad when it was done.  We stayed in Saturday night and had some BBQ nachos for dinner.  We rented Moneyball, which was a really good movie.  I usually don't care to watch any movie that is not a comedy or a chik flick (yes I might as well still be 12 years old), but this one was pretty good.  I was able to finish up my springtime yarn wreath.

Besides going to church and lunch at Eric's grandma's house, I spent the majority of my Sunday reading my newest Sophie Kinsella book: I've Got Your Number. So far it has not disappointed!  I don't think it will take me much longer to finish this one! Eric made Seafood Gumbo for dinner (which I did try) and I made Pudding Pops that I found on Pinterst for dessert.  They were soooooo good!

I finished off the weekend watching the Oscars.  I am so glad Octavia Spencer won Best Supporting Actress for her role as Minnie in The Help.  Not only was it a fantastic book and movie, but she is from Montgomery and apparently gave a shout out to her Alma Mater---(War Eagle!) on the Red Carpet.  Yes, people from Alabama do that.  LOL.

Here are a few pics from this weekend:
1. I found a new favorite store on Friday after work when I stopped at the mall to do a little shopping called Versona Accessories. THey had a ridiculous amount of really pretty and reasonably priced jewelry, along with tons of cute trendy clothes (also reasonably priced).  I WILL be back.....often =).
2. My new key necklace.  I have been looking for a gold key necklace for about a year now, and I found not one, but 5 different key necklaces at Versona!  I was so tempted to buy a couple of them, but I settled on this lovely piece.
3. This is one of the cute outfits I got at Versona.  I have worn the black short sleeved cardigan literally all weekend.  It is perfect over a colorful long-sleeved top too!
4. This is how blue the sky was this weekend.  It may have been a little chilly, but it was sunny all weekend so we took the top off the jeep =).  I took this pic while I was out and about Saturday.  I was stopped at a stop sign, no worries!
5. After locking myself out of the house the other morning I decided I needed a spare key, so I headed to Wally World and found this super cute key!  I now have a new key on my key chain and my old key is safely hidden away!
6. GOOOOOOOOOOOOO BOILERS!!!!!  Both teams got a win this weekend AND they were both on TV so I got to watch!  The men's team upset #13 Michigan @ Michigan on their Senior Day and the women beat Indiana at home.
7.  Eric's gumbo.
8. My Puddin Pops!

I hate to see the weekend end, but apparently we will get some warm weather this week so I can deal with it I guess.

Sweet Saturday

Happy Saturday!

I get to spend the morning with these 2 handsome boys!

Yes that is Hawk's leg on top of his head.  This is a common sleeping position for him.  He has a metal rod in his leg from when he broke it when he was a puppy and now he is double jointed.  I think it takes the pressure off of his hip when he puts it up there.

And look who is walking around on a leash and not with a towel under his tummy! I never would have believed he would be doing so well after just 2 weeks of steroids and kenneling him.  But he is and I am so thankful he is!  He still has to be kenneled for another month, which will not be fun for him or us, but if he is going to get better that is what we have to do.  Doesn't he look cute in his jacket?  I figured keeping his back warm while he is outside would not hurt anything (and hopefully help because he tends to have problems when it gets cold).  On another note, he has lost half of a pound!  He needs to lose about 5 more and get down to about 15 (he was 20+), but we are 1/10 of the way there and he cannot get any exercise right now.

The third boy (the human one)  is off fishing........in 30 degree weather.  No worries, we stopped when we were on our way to Montgomery last night to eat dinner with some friends and he got a propane heater to put in the boat.  My solution was just not go fishing, but that was certainly not an option.  At least he's trying to stay warm!

Time for a little house cleaning! Hopefully I can knock it all out this morning so I can start of my new Sophie Kinsella book I've Got your Number.  I was trying to wait until I finished the book I am reading right now, but  I had a weak moment and bought it on my Kindle yesterday. Oops!  Now I have to read it! =)

Birthday Recap

So my birthday started out fantasticly! I got to sleep in because it was Presidents' Day and I had the day off, which was a bonus in itself.  Since Eric had to work he gave me my birthday presents while we were drinking our coffee: tools for my Cricut and a gift card to Target.  He knows me so well =).  Since I did not have to work I made my way to the craft stores to get some supplies so I could get some springtime vibes going in our house and spent the afternoon crafting (aka my happy place). Eric brought a birthday cake home that afternoon and I got to make a wish blow out my candles. We finished off the evening with a wonderful dinner with his brother and his fiance at a local restaurant called The Pub. It is one of my favorites!  (We had our rehearsal dinner there). Here are a few pics from my bday:

1. Never again will I let Eric pretend like he can't wrap presents.  The boy could wrap for a department store at Christmastime if he wanted to.....
2. My Cricut swag!
3. This note was attached to my birthday card from my grandparents.  If you can't read it, it says. "Eric, She should not open this before 2/20/12.  Ch & Car" (aka my grandparents).  I thought it was the funniest thing I had ever read when it came in the mail a couple of weeks before my birthday.  Eric promptly followed the instructions and hid the card away until my birthday!
4. I got some pretty roses from Eric's parents.
5. My birthday cake with ALL 27 (notice they take up half the cake) candles lit.  And yes the person at the bakery spelled my name Besty.....AGAIN.
6. Making my birthday wish!
7. Peanut was not too happy that I was home most of the day and he had to stay in his kennel.  I let him out for part of the day and made him sit on the couch, mostly because he spent most of the time he was in his kennel barking at me. *He only does this when it's just me at home.  When Eric is home he sits quietly.
8. This was the side item special at The Pub that night:  Fried Asparagus with a Horseradish Sauce on top.  OMGness it was fabulous.  I now have a new favorite way to eat asparagus.

All in all it was an absolutely wonderful birthday!

What I'm Pinning Wednesday: Springtime Edition Vol.1

It's official, I have spring fever.  I was holding out for us to get a little bit of winter this year, but there is only a week left in February and I have pretty much given up on winter ever showing up this year.  So bring it on Spring! This girl is ready for flowers in the flowerbeds, long days, running outside, sunshine, flip flops, and spending lazy afternoons by the pool!

I am linking up this week with some Springtime Pinspiration!

Can this be my yard this year?
via

Then I would like to have out front porch look like this.
via

Of course I will need a few of these babies out by the pool.....
yes that would be a chair with a slot to hold a wine glass.  (you know you want one).
via

And instead of tiki torches this year we will be lighting the pool area with wine bottle torches!
(seriously I am going to make some of these bad boys to put around the pool)
via

I many need to make a trip to Home Depot to get some glass tiles....I love this!
via

I may decide to make some cute St. Patty's Day cards this year.
via

I want to make some of this stuff.....I think I will call it Puddin' Whip.
via

I think I NEED to have some of these Pudding Pops.
via

Of course I can't eat too many because this super cute outfit would not look right if I did.  I am in love with this color combination.  We may need to rethink the shoes, though.  They are cute but tall girl needs some flats.
via

Love these neutrals.
via

St. Patty's Day is coming soon!  This would be some cute green to wear that day!

Happy Birthday to The Cagle Chronicles!

I had every intention of doing a recap post of MY birthday today, but unfortunately I did not get any pics uploaded and edited last night.  After a wonderful dinner out and a new episode of SMASH I looked at the clock and realized it was 10PM and I still had about 150 things to do before I went to bed.  I will say that I had a fabulous birthday that included sleeping in, shopping, crafting. phone calls/texts/messages, a fabulous dinner, and of course candles to make a wish on and blow out!  I promise a full recap some time this week.

However, I did want to make sure to post today because I have officially kept this blog going for a year!  I am really shocked that I kept it going for an entire year--that's so not like me to stick with something like this for that long!  I kind of like being able to go back and see what I was doing/thinking/etc throughout the year.  I don't see me letting up any time soon, so stay tuned for more Chronicles! I promise not to disappoint =)

The Big 27 (and a weekend recap)

Happy Birthday to me!  At 4:07AM I officially turned 27 years old.  I have come to the conclusion that I am perfectly ok with turning 27.  26 freaked me out a bit, but I am excited to see what my 27th year has in store for me!

Maybe the reason I am totally digging turning 27 is because I had a fabulous weekend leading up to it.

My friends at work threw me a surprise bday party on Friday since they knew we'd be off for President's Day on my birthday.  They got me a cookie cake....my absolute favorite!   Isn't it adorable?!

I could eat cookie cake all day every day (we had 3 cookie cakes at our wedding, no joke), and that's just what Eric and I did with this particular cookie cake because this is what it looked like 24 hours later.
No I'm not ashamed;  I enjoyed every single bite!
I also got some beautiful flowers.  Yes they are in a Chik-fil-a cup and they may or may not be the leftover table flowers from the Chik-fil-a in the building I work in. =)  I don't care because they look fabulous on our kitchen table.

Saturday Eric went to birthday shop for me =)  so I had the house to myself.  It rained all day so I spent the majority of the day curled up on the couch, although I did manage to clean the house up a bit for the fish fry we had Saturday night. It was our first fish fry of the year and it didn't disappoint! I made my first attempt at Eric's coleslaw recipe and it turned out pretty good!  I also made some delicious Double Chocolate Chunk Cookies with Reece's Piecies (just for the record they are almost all gone, too--I am beginning to see a cookie consumption pattern).
You are getting hungry, very hungry.
The cold rolled in Sunday so after church and lunch at Eric's grandma's house I cuddled up on the couch with the puppies and watched basketball games for the majority of the day.

A few other pics from the weekend:
1. I found these pretty little flowers in the flower bed Saturday morning.  They are always the first to bloom but mid-February is about as early as they have ever come up.
2.  This is Hawk's "please let me play with Peanut" face.  We have seen it a lot lately.
3.  Peanut got to spend some time out of his kennel this weekend--not running around, just laying on the couch.  He is still on the mend but seems to get better every day.
4. My craft project of this weekend. I made them with cupcake wrappers, sewing pins, and styrofoam balls (I plan on doing a how-to later this week).  I need to put the purple one on a taller dowel so they are not the same height like they are now.

I still have no idea what Eric has planned for my birthday festivities and it's driving me crazy!  I may have to take a trip to the craft store to keep myself busy until he gets home from work!
