Weekend Recap

Spring has officially sprung in Alabama.  It was an absolutely beautiful weekend here, and I did my best to spend a good portion of my weekend outside enjoying it. Which I did, in between some reading time....I finished The Hunger Games and have started the 2nd book in the series, Catching Fire.  So far it has picked right off where the first one ended and it probably won't take me too long to get through it.

The boys and I played outside quite a bit:
Hawk thoroughly enjoyed himself playing in the mud and Peanut got a little too close to the hose when Eric gave Hawk a bath.

Eric headed south for a boys weekend so I treated myself to a feast of Pokey Sticks and Peanut Butter Pretzel Chocolate Chip Cookies and a glass of wine =) while a read Hunger Games Friday night.

I decided to get a start on my gardens for the year while I had some time and picked up a few pretties from Wally World.
Apparenly I have a thing for pink this year.  They were just so pretty I couldn't resist!  The ones on the far right are a new one for me, Diasca.  I think they are so cute! And I love that close up they look like a face!  I am going to attempt a flower border this year in the front flower bed, too. Unfortunately, the flowers I am using have been in a box under our carport for 3 weeks and I am not sure they are going to make it.  Hopefully they will with a little TLC.

This is going to be a busy week, but lots-o-fun!  March Madness starts, so I will be filling out my brackets tomorrow and I can't wait for the games to start!  Plus my dad is coming for a visit this weekend!  I am just hoping this week goes fast because I am so ready for the weekend already!

Friday Cuteness

A friends sent me this link to the Discovery Channel's Penguin Cam that streams live video from SeaWorld San Diego's Penguin Encounter.  These little guys are about the cutest things I have ever seen!  I mean who doesn't love penguins!?!

Take me Out to the Ball Game

In my office, window cubies are a very hot commodity, and mine in particular is a corner cubie (with a view no less!), which I absolutely adore. My view in particular is pretty spectacular and includes the Biscuits baseball stadium (yes we have a Minor league baseball team called the Biscuits; I guess it was an homage to the south, and their logo is a giant biscuit with a face) .  I am pretty sure I have seen more games from my window than I have seen in person.  I hope that I get to change that this year and actually go to the games instead of watch them from the window--well watch the outfield and score board.

Pretty sweet right?

Tuesday night we actually went to a game at the stadium.  Since Major/Minor League baseball games have not started up yet this year, the stadium hosted a state rivalry college game:  Alabama vs. Auburn.  I am pretty sure these 2 schools could have a snail racing contest and people in this state would show up to watch it.  You say it's Alabama vs. Auburn, people show up.  The fans came out in full force on Tuesday and sold out the stadium.  My friend Michelle suggested it would be fun to go watch and after a little (surprisingly only a little) convincing I got Eric to agree to go with, so we made a double date out of it!

It was a blast! It got a little chilly toward the end but we had a great time!  Auburn put a whooping on Alabama and won 9-3, but it was fun just the same.  We had awesome seats down the 3rd base side right behind the Bama bullpen.  I was hoping to get some foul ball action, but none came right to us. Maybe that just means I need to go back to another game!

The view of my building from the ball park.

Awesome seats!

Michelle and I @ the game.

I am thinking this needs to be at least a monthly event one the Biscuits start playing!
