Game Day!

I am so excited because today is GAME DAY!  I am helping my FSIL coach the THS Lady Tigers basketball team this year and we have our first game tonight!  I am super pumped about it, too!

It's been a good 5 years since I've been in a basketball team atmosphere, and I am thoroughly enjoying it.  Playing college basketball, lots of people assume you want to go into coaching when you finish playing.  I guess I was an exception.  It was a thought in the back of my mind, but nothing I really ever thought would materialize, mainly because I did not go into teaching, and therefore would not have an opportunity to coach.  It wasn't until my FSIL became the head coach and asked me to help that I really started thinking, hey this could be a lot of fun!

My nerves have not gotten the best of me yet this morning, but I am sure that I will not be able to site still this afternoon.   I have a CD that an old college teammate made for all of the HC Lady Hawks Alumni a couple of years ago with all of the songs that will be blaring in my car on the way home--it's got my "get ready" song "Lose Yourself" by Eminem on it!  Don't know why but that song gets me ready!!!

Christmas Cards...check!

I finally started (and finished) our Christmas cards for this year!  I have been putting it off for several weeks just because.  I had a three day weekend this past weekend so I decided to get them done so I don't have it hanging over my head the next few weeks.  I have done the ever-popular photo card before, but the past couple of years I have created them with my crafting supplies, and put a photo inside the card.  The last 2 years have been easy, last year was a wedding picture, the year before was the 1st picture of us taken right after we got engaged.  This year I am hoping that I can convince Eric we need to do a family photo shoot over Thanksgiving so I have a picture to include in our cards!

Thanks to Pinterest....AKA my favorite web site in the whole entire world, I have had more than enough ideas to pick from.  I finally settled on 2 different designs for this years cards which I will post AFTER I send them out in a few weeks.

Here are the cards I did last year:

Thanksgiving Decor

I have been slacking on posting my Thanksgiving decorations.  Since it is hunting season, I have had ample time on the weekends to let my creative juices flow (i.e. spread my craft stuff all over the computer room and go to town!).

I decided to decorate the mantle this year, which I have never done before, but with all of the pinspiration I have had recently from Pinterest, I couldn't NOT decorate!

Is it a little bit of pumpkin overload?  Maybe, but I LOVE it!

Close-up of my Be Thankful bunting.

One of my other favorite fall decorations that I made, I got the idea from this pinterest post. I am not one for woodworking, so I decided to put my own spin on it and burlap it up!

I can't wait for Thanksgiving to get here!  I am so thankful that I have an extremely busy week (3 basketball games, a bball get-together, bball practice, dance rehearsal, oh and work too!) so I will not be sitting around waiting for the week to end!  I can't wait to see my family soon!!!!

Thanksgiving comes BEFORE Christmas

via
I saw this on Facebook this morning.  It absolutely cracked me up!  These are my sentiments exactly when it comes to the holiday.  Don't get me wrong, I absolutely ADORE Christmas time, and the day AFTER Thanksgiving my radio changes to a station that plays nothing BUT Christmas music in the weeks leading up to Christmas.  However, I think that Thanksgiving should be celebrated sans a Christmas tree in the front window.  I honestly saw the Christmas aisles filling up in Target a few weeks before Halloween......really?!?  Next thing you know they'll be pulling it out in July!

So here's to the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday!  I can't wait to spend time with family, eat some fried turkey and watch some football!
