O Christmas Lights

Nope, not O Christmas Tree.....we have not made it that far yet.  I had every intention of at least putting lights on the tree last night but when we went to bed last night, our tree still looked like this:
At least I got the tree skirt on it!
Yesterday while I was at work Eric called and asked me if I could stop by the store and get some spotlights and some net lights because he was going to decorate the outside of the house. *GASP*  I just about dropped the phone when he said this.  I bugged him nearly every day last year about putting lights up but he did not want to mess with it, so I was shocked when he said he wanted to put some up this year.  I ran out on my lunch break to pick up a few things to decorate the outside of the house with because I was NOT passing up this opportunity.

Since neither of us gets home before dark these days I figured we would wait until this weekend to put the lights up outside.  I am not sure why I thought that because I KNEW my can't-sit-still-must-get-this-done-immediately husband would want to put them up last night.....and he did.
Bad picture.....the bright spots on the sides of the house are spotlights and there are wreaths on the windows.  We have 2 more wreaths to add to the windows on the porch, plus we are going to get another spotlight for the middle of the house.
He spent about an hour and a half in outside in the dark hanging wreaths, hooking up extension cords and stretching net lights (with my help) to get it done.  We even had some friends drive by looking at Christmas lights so he got to show them off. =)   I think it looks wonderful!  It's so nice to have more than just a wreath on the door this year.

Oh yeah and the tree?  I pulled down a big box of lights when I was getting the wreaths down, and while Eric was finishing up outside I pulled them out to put on the tree.  That's when I realized the lights were NOT my tree light and I remembered that I purchased 28 boxes of multi-colored lights on clearance at the end of last year with the intention of putting them outside this year......now I have 28 boxes of multi-colored lights and I have no idea what I am going to do with them.  Maybe outline Christmas Trees on the windows?  Is it acceptable to mix multi-colored lights and white lights on the front of the house? It's been so long since I've decorated the outside of a house with lights that I have no clue.

I am going to try again tonight to get some lights on the tree.  Hopefully I can find the right box in the attic this time.

3 Years Ago Today

November 27 will always be a special day for Eric and I.  It was on this day 3 years ago that he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.  He asked me at my grandparents house after Thanksgiving dinner as we were going around the table saying what we were thankful for.  It was perfect.  He knows how much my family means to me and I was so happy that they'd been there to share that moment with us. I am one lucky girl to have him!  Three years later and I love just as much and more than I did then!

It was right after the Iron Bowl that year, hence the Bama t-shirts.
Since we are in the middle of basketball season and wrestling season we won't be doing much as far as a celebration goes, but we did go to Costco last night to get our Christmas Tree!  He put it up last night and it is beautiful!  I can't wait to decorate it.....I'm just not sure when that is going to happen yet.  Hopefully some time this week.  I am still catching up on laundry and my kitchen looks like Walmart after Black Friday shoppers tore through it, so it might be a few days, but that's ok because it's still pretty to look at! (and smells heavenly!)

We did make it back from our Thanksgiving trip to Indiana in one piece and had a blast!  I will have a post up later this week on our fun time up there as soon as I can de-clutter our house and decorate this beautiful tree!

It's Almost Turkey Time

Qu'est que c'est? This was the scene in our shed this morning.  That would be our giant shrimp boil pot  with not one but two turkey frying in it!  Sadly these turkeys are not for us to eat. =(  Eric fried these bad boys up this morning (as in started at 5AM) for some of guys he works with....such a sweetheart!  There is nothing better than heading out the door for work and getting a nose-full of this glorious aroma.  I could sit next to it and sniff it all day.

I will get my fried turkey (don't you worry!) this week, but I have to be patient. But for now my mouth is watering and all I can think about today is mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, ROLLS, stuffing, and that TURKEY!  I am afraid it's going to be a long day with those thoughts going on in my head!  Thank goodness today is my FRIDAY....whoop whoop!  There's nothing but an 8 hour work day and a 2 hour basketball practice standing between me and my Turkey Day Vacation!

Weekend Recap: What's Meant to Be

Some things are  just not meant to be.  The THS football team was apparently not meant to go further than the 2nd round of the playoffs this year.  How else do you explain scoring and converting a two point play (on film), but not winning.  For some reason the referees chose to say that our ball carrier did not score. Eric said that after watching the game tape back, our guy was in the end zone by 2 feet.  The other team thought that he was in, too, because they were walking off the field with the heads down until they realized the referees had not made a call.  About a minute later they said he did not cross the plane which meant no score. =(  It was so sad.  Eric took it pretty hard, too.  He moped around most of the day on Saturday, which is something he NEVER does.

On the other hand somethings ARE  meant to be, like the Alabama Crimson Tide in the hunt for another chance to play in the BCS National Championship.  How else do you explain the #2 and #3 ranked teams in the country losing in the same week? (at the same time I might add) They are not a shoe-in, but they certainly control their own destiny.....2 more wins and are very likely in national championship.  I was just glad to see Eric smiling and happy. =)  We threw in some ribs and chicken on the grill and I made some delicious homemade chocolate chip cookies.

Since we now know whether or not we'll have a football game this week (sadly not), we can now make plans for Thanksgiving!  I am so ready to have a few days off to play and spend time with family!  I can already taste the fried turkey!
