We may have gone through 15 coaches--give or take a few--while we were there, and we didn't always see eye-to eye with one another (but when you have 15 girls living together, going to school together, and spending nearly every waking minute together, you're bound to have your disagreements); I spent more time sleeping on the floors of buses than I care to remember, and there were days when we didn't think we'd make it through practice, but I know that none of us would trade our experience for anything and there's no other people any of us would have rather spent those four years with. We may all live in different places and have our separate lives now, but we all share one common thread that no one can ever take from us. I love these girls so much.
As I coach my own team now I hope that one day some of them look back on their high school years and remember how much fun they had. Maybe one of them will be fortunate go to the next level and experience college basketball for themselves. There's something about walking into a gym in the afternoon on a crisp fall afternoon that gives me goosebumps still.
