High 5 for Friday

Let's get right to it, shall we?

#1

I have mentioned on more than one occasion that Hollow loves to watch tv. I seriously have never seen a dog watch television so intently. We were watching this week's episode of Duck Dynasty last night and Phil was sitting on his chair talking to Miss Kay about her turtle that was missing and Bobo (the dog) was sitting by him in the shot.  Hollow lost his mind when he saw the dog (as usual).  I found it kind of ironic that Hollow and Bobo have the same colors and similar markings on their fur....maybe they're cousins!

It's Homecoming week in our little town which means nothing else matters for the next 15 or so hours.  This town puts on the biggest Homecoming celebration you have ever seen.  It starts Thursday with a candle light ceremony and a bonfire at the school.  This morning there is a pep rally....yes this MORNING. They can't have it in the afternoon because that's when the parade takes place.  I'm telling you, it's a big deal.  I am skipping most of the days activities and and opting to put in a full day's work, but I will be at the game early to see the Homecoming Court ride into the stadium on the back of convertibles and the rest of the festivities. One of the radio stations is going to be in town and their having a contest where you can get your name drawn to get a chance to punt a football into the back of a pickup truck for a chance to win $10,000 at halftime tonight. Do I know how to punt?  Not really. My chances of even getting picked are probably going to be slim, but you can't get a crack at it if you don't put your name in, right?

We're going to attempt to go to my second ever Auburn football game...that is assuming Hurricane Karen doesn't dump on us on Saturday.  We'll most likely end up going because it's not like we'll get the warning anyway, the NOAA (the agency responsible for issuing the official hurricane warnings) is apparently a non-essential government agency and their web site is currently down.
This is what pops up when you go to NOAA.gov for information on hurricanes.  My favorite part is circled in red.  Last time I checked hurricanes were very good at causing loss of life and damaging property.

My first week in my new position has been going alright.  Pretty uneventful.  With this being a brand new position I have some freedom to make it what I want it to be, which is nice, but at the same time I find myself wondering what the heck I should be doing and wondering how I fit in the big picture without stepping on any toes.  It's a bit frustrating, but it's just the first week and what fun would it be if I got it all figured out the first week, right?

My free time after work is going to get a little more structure to it starting next week because I will get to meet my sweet dance students to whom I will be imparting my tap dancing wisdom for the next 8 months. I have picked up a couple more classes this year which will be challenging I'm sure, but I am really excited about it!

That's all I've got for ya today.  Happy Friday and GOOOOOOOO TIGERS!
