He Told Me So

As much as I hate it Eric got to do his I told you so dance last night. It looked kinda like this:

Why?  Because I got pulled over.......

I was on my way home from practice last night and right before I turned off the main road to head home, my back window was filled with flashing blue lights. Cue sinking feeling mixed with shame in the pit of my stomach.  Surprisingly (to myself) I didn't freak out or cry.  I actually thought to myself that's what you get for not paying attention to how fast you're going.  I honestly didn't think I was going THAT fast...maybe that's why I didn't freak out.  As I rolled down the window the nice police man didn't say anything about my speed, but asked me if I knew my drivers side headlight was out.  I can honestly say I had ZERO idea that my headlight was out because well when I am in my car I can't see my headlights.  I remembered it being on earlier this week when I got our of my car and locked it, so at most it could have been a day or two since it went out.  He checked my license and insurance, told me to get it replaced and sent me on my way as I promised to do so.

So why did Eric get to do his song and dance?  Because I am notorious for driving around with a headlight out for several weeks before getting them replaced.  Seriously.  My other headlight went out about 2 months ago and I drove around town for a good 3 weeks before I got it changed.  Every time Eric saw it he would remind me I needed to replace it and told me I would get pulled over for it.  Low and behold the ONE TIME I actually did not know it was out I get pulled over for it.  So like a good girl, I got that sucker replaced first thing this morning because I am afraid I won't be able to use that excuse again if I get pulled over for it again soon. Plus living in a small town means there's a good chance that same cop will be out patrolling the same area looking for one headlight offenders.

It's not surprise this is one of my FAVORITE songs......but I am sure it's just a coincidence.

Lesson Learned: You actually CAN get pulled over for having a headlight out.  You were right babe (for once).
