"Low Key" Weekend...what's that?

After the craziness that has been the past few weekends for us, I was beyond ready for a low-key weekend at home, and for the most part that's how it went.  We did end up spending Friday night at home, watching movies and falling asleep early.

Saturday morning Eric went fishing so the dogs were of course up at the crack of dawn. Since I was up I went ahead and started cooking for Saturday night.  We smoked some Boston Butts (all night long) and I made potato salad,  baked beans, and some delicious Chocolate Chip Cookies.  GOOD STUFF.  We ended up having an old fashioned pool party Saturday after with a bunch of our friends.  Frankly it was too hot to do anything else, so much for the lovely break for the humidity we've had lately. We had some college friends from Georgia come stay with us and they brought their 2 dogs with them, which made for craziness but it a lot of fun.  They have a Weimaraner and a Miniature Dachshund so Hawk and Peanut each had a friend to play with.  The big dogs played in the pool all day while the little ones ran around it.  I think Peanut has his first crush.

Peanut and Truda....he loves her.
We laid around Sunday morning and eventually decided to head up to the river Sunday afternoon for a little while.  The plan was to head up to one of the sandbars and play around for a little while and then head back around dinnertime so our friends could get back to GA before it got too late.

1. The happy lil family....Juniorr Boy had enough of the water and was not going to walk through it any more.
2. Love this place and the boy too!
3. The other boat.
4. Maggie and CJ after he "decided" to sit on the floor of the boat...aka...the cooler he was sitting on fell over as he was leaning away from a tree branch.

Our plan was working great and we were headed back to the boat ramp around 5:30pm, until Eric and his brother decided they wanted to go back in to Lions Creek to see which boat could go back the furthest.....and then this happened:

That's right...we got stuck, not once, not twice.....3 TIMES (well we got stuck twice and his brother got stuck once).  The water was barely ankle deep--which the boats can run in when there are not 3-4 bodies in them. Needless to say the boys got quite a workout pushing them across the sandbars.  About an hour later we had the boats freed and were one our way but the boys were completely exhausted from boat pushing.

This pretty much sums it up:
Pure exhaustion...LOL.  They were not playing either. They were literally that exhausted.

At least we got to see some really pretty scenery!

The boys may or may not have appreciated the excess picture taking by the girls, but it was clearly worth it =).

Softball tourney starts (and ends one way or another) tonight!  I can't wait!
